However;the unit 3213 needs attention.For instance,the dishwasher is very rusty. Several pieces inside the dishwasher were rusted completely.The kitchen entryway has a chunk of drywall missing.The rusted porch furniture-shabby tablecloth should be thrown out.The living room television was not working.The master bathroom shower drain must be clogged,as the shower was extremely slow to drain,and water filled the shower stall even on short 5 minute showers. Have Been Going for Many Years A guest from Tampa, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 We have stayed at Palm Island Resort for one week a year for more than 20 years now. There are many great things about the resort - the incredible beach,the wildlife, the fishing, the pools, and the ability to get away from it all for a few days. However, to be fair, we have to say there are also a few things lacking at Palm Island lately - quality customer service being the main one. On our most recent stay (July 2012), we had rude service from a gentleman in the front office on 2 occasions plus an unfortunate disregard for a serious health concern. There was a water main break during our stay and the entire resort was without water for approximately 12 hours. After it was fixed, there was a boil-water order in effect, but no one was notified by the resort of the situation. The only notice was a flyer placed in the recreation office. No phone calls, no notices placed on our doors, etc. After we all found out many hours later...we heard another guest voicing her concern to the front office due to the fact that a person in their party was pregnant and not notified of the boil-water order. We found it disturbing that a health-related order would be handled with such disregard. The condominiums are usually nice but can vary in quality. As long as you're looking for a casual, family resort you will probably fall in love with the place. It has become a tradition for our family that we look forward to every year - even with a few glitches that we try to overlook. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2012 In this unit, refrigerator would not stay shut, bar on frig door kept falling off,ice maker didn't work, oven and microwave very outdated and did not cook to correct temp. Very low water pressure in unit. Toilets barely flushed. Called maintenance but they never came or if they did, never fixed the problem. Very disappointed in the quality of this u it. Everywhere else was fabulous! Will not stay at this unit again! Needs lots of work and feels very crowded. Despite an unusually rainy week, our 11-yo and 8-yo boys had a great time. Beach, pool, and a room of their own with a TV and DVD player! We grilled regularly, also enjoyed the kid's menu at Rum Bay and ice cream at Coconuts. The weather only let us use our boat twice, but it was great. Only negative was that our particular unit was a little worn. It seemed that it may have been neglected but looked like recent efforts have been made to update it. I would prefer that more items be available in the store for those staying more than a few days and maybe add some baked goods like cookies & brownies, etc. to Coconuts. Phone did not work or lack of instructions to explain, upstairs unit could easily be heard moving around so noise level was surprisingly high at times. Rumbay, all food was great except for grouper bites. Serving or quantity for price was not matched well. Chicken finger for kids was heavy breaded and small portions of chicken inside. Eveything else we had was wonderful. When we left we wanted to pick up something at the store and it was closed. Idea. Let restaurant guest know store and coconuts closes at a certain time and consider keeping them open a bit longer.Will be back soon.
