The cabin was clean, comfortable, and had a beautiful view. The only issue was that the downstairs tv seemed to not work. We didn't watch much tv in the cabin, so that was not too much of an issue. It was a lovely cabin, decorated well. The wood burning fireplace was wonderful & the wood in furnished! There are 2 fantastic showers with 5 shower heads. Need I say more! 1)The side of the mountain is washing away & the driveway is dangerous. 2)We had to back down the mountain when we left. 3) There is a serious lady bug problem inside this cabin. Cabin is very out dated. Deck is very dangerous for small children. Even I would not go up to the railing. Not very clean. Only rooms clean were the bath rooms. Caution tape up on driveway, We were not told about the caution tape before arriving. No blinds in living room which made the cabin extremely hot & unable to watch tv. Deck had no roof so sun was too bright to sit out on the deck. Largest tv was downstairs in the basement but had no place to sit ( wth). View of the mountains was nice though. Will no stay with American rentals again because I paid a cleaning fee for below average clean cabin. Location was a plus for us. A couple mins from dollywood parking,and minutes from the main strip. Cabin had nice ammenities. A/C was great and the showers were awesome! It was alot of bang for your buck. American Mountain Rentals was great, will book with them again! If i had to state a few dislikes, they would be as follows:1. Outside upper deck didn't have enough verticle boards to make it safe for our two toddlers; older kids would be fine though.2. Outside lights was out except for one.. made it a little dark outside at night..3. Hot tub cover needed to be replaced..old, outdated, and weighed a ton.(hot tub was nice)4. No WiFi :(5. Kitchen table is on its last leg, literally, it is falling apart. Hot tub had no directions for use or cleaning, which made us wonder what the previous users may have done. Dissatisfied with this particular cabin! Juan M. from Naperville, IL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2011 On July 11, 2011, my family and I arrived at the cabin located at 2042 McCarter Drive. Upon our arrival we discovered the oven was left in the self cleaning mode and was still on. The stove top was very HOT and lucky for us my two children did not touch the stove before we noticed it was on Also next to the stove was the electrical cord for the toaster which was also very hot. On this same day we noticed several dead bugs on the floor, window sill and carpet. The outside of the cabin had garbage that had been left untouched and the comforter in the master bedroom has stains that appear to be blood. Also the locks on the doors do not work properly. On the second night we discovered the water heater was leaking which caused a bad smell on the lower floor. Because of this bad smell we were unable to use the lower level to sleep or play. We also began hearing what appeared to us to be a raccoon or squirrel in the attic. We did contact management regarding this issue and their maintenance man Shane arrived immediately. Shane was very helpful in attempting to resolve are issues. Shane did place a cap on the water heater and said he would have to replace it after we checked out. Shane later returned with a trap and place it outside. Shane later followed up with us regarding the trap and the noises we were hearing in the attic each night. Overall our stay at the cabin was dissatisfying especially for the amount we paid. This cabin needs maintenance and updating. Also the main floor deck has boards on the rails that are unsafe! Many of these boards are coming apart and for this reason we did not let our children stand outside and enjoy the view. We appreciated the convenient location to the park entrance. However, we were disappointed in the overall condition of the cabin. We had been to this region about 12 years before and had rented a beautiful cabin in the mountains; this was certainly not the same experience for us. We found Treetops to be an older, somewhat run down cabin with many needed repairs,especially to the deck area. The railing is coming apart. The deck is very run down and splintery, and the hot tub, which appeared very unused, smelled musty, not well lit, needing some maintenance. The tub's front wooden panel was damaged. The gas grill on the deck was extremely rusty and dirty, so we chose not use the deck, grill, or hot tub. The hearth of the fireplace area had not been cleaned. Upon entering the lower level, we encountered thin black centipedes crawling all over the carpeted floor. I stopped counting after removing over 30 of them. The floors of the entire cabin needed a better cleaning as our granddaughter's feet were immediately black when she walked around inside. I reported the centipedes and the sticky/dirty floors to the management office the next day and they said they would spray a pesticides while we were at the park the next day. I am not sure if this was done or not. They said the floors were no doubt sticky due to a type of cleaner they used, but that was not the case. The sticky areas were very visible, which I ended up cleaning myself. As we packed to leave, I noticed there was mildew on the underside of the blanket on the little single bed used by our granddaughter. This cabin has so much potential, but definately needs some TLC. We enjoyed our family time together, but would probably look for a more quality cabin the next time. We felt the cost of this cabin was rather expensive for what we encountered. I love the fact that you are less than 5 minutes from Dollywood, you just drive to the bottom of a mountain and you are there and you are located only 10 minites from Pigeon Forge. It is very quiet and peaceful. The only reason I gave a 3 on the general condition is because the hot tub did not work and the dryer went out, but they sent a maintenance man the next morning and within 2 hours they were both repaired. The furniture does need to be updated. The couch was a little unconfortable and the kitchen table is leaning, but not that big of a deal. The overall experience for my family was great, oh I almost forgot. I really liked the linen exchange they offered everyday. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2010 I didn't have much of a view of the mountains (which I specifically asked for) . . . . The furniture in the living room and the bed was very uncomfortable. We asked for maintenance to check on our "hot water" because the two of us could only stay in the shower for no longer than 10 to 15 minutes. I take longer showers than that at home . .. and I have a houseful of people living at my house. We never run out of hot water. Wouldn't you think that a cabin with a specially designed shower with jets in the walls would have hot water for longer than 10 minutes?? To get to the hot tub, you had to go out the back door and around the cabin . . . I've stayed in other cabins that had access to the hot tub from a bedroom or another room in the cabin. We enjoyed being together, but I would not stay in this cabin again or recommend it to anyone else. I specifically pointed out that we did not want to have to drive up any real steep hills to get to the cabin, and that's exactly what we got - the driveway was a nightmare to get in and out of and VERY UNSAFE!! The small refrigerator in the lower level was not working properly and emitted a very foul odor - we called maintenance to fix it, but they did not come while we were there. My son had to sleep down there with the bad odor. Needless to say our first impression with your cabin rentals was not favorable - I'm sorry, but I would not recommend your cabins to anyone. A great place to view fireworks. The mixer didn't work and the grill was broken. Only the side burner worked, we had to buy our own small charcoal grill to use. The jacuzzi had a yellow ring around it and dirt along the bottom. We had a challenge trying to secure the trash can from the racoons. Mattress needs to be replacd. The picture in basement TV is horrible. Overall, condition of kitchen was good. Hot tub was great. Smell of cabin in basement was bad when first entering. Some of the blankets smelled like smoke. Bathroom was clean. Mattresses definitely need to be changed and blankets need to be washed. The cabin was advertised as having been remodeled but it did not appear that way. It needed a lot of work. The driveway was so cracked and broken up we were concerned about the safety of our cars being on it. Privacy was great, rooms were clean, the only problem I had was that turning around was a problem. Property located on a hill with very little space to turn around, but the hill did provide us the extra seclusion which we love. The location was perfect for Dollywood, you could just about walk. Very little traffic in the area. Had a very minor problem with damage to the cabin when we arrived, staff offered to correct immediately, but was so minimal that we told them we just wanted it noted. Staff was very helpful and sold us our Dollywood tickets, this saved us much needed time in line. We will definitely be back, totally great experience. Great place to stay for the money! Lenore D. from Corryton, TN recommends this property. We really enjoyed the large showers, but had no instruction on how to use the TV remotes. The bottom floor had a problem with bugs. various bugs were coming in from under the downsatirs door.
