Amazing Location and Family Friendly! Todd T. from Clearmont, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in March, 2013 What amazing stay we had at River Falls Hideaway. We were coming from Florida and our twin 6 year old boys were able to run around outside. This is not always the case with most rentals situated way up high in the hills/mountains were it is not safe to allow children to play outside. We even had a day of snow which the kids had never seen. So we had lots of fun building snowmen. The cabin is easy to find thanks to a very little outdoor restaurant at the entrance to the driveway that has great food and sells lots of fun crafty items. They also sell firewood which is convenient if you want to use the fire pit outside of the cabin which we did. The kids loved walking from the cabin to the restaurant as it always felt like a nice little nature hike walking beside the stream.There are beautiful waterfalls near the cabin which are so relaxing to listen to as you can even hear it inside the cabin.The falls were also beautiful at night as the owners have recently added spotlights that illuminate the falls. We couldn't have asked for a nicer cabin in a better location. We felt secluded enough, but at the same time we were close to the main road that we felt very safe. Pigeon Forge was a nice 5 mile/ minute max road trip. Grocery store was about 9 minutes away. We truly felt like we were at home in this cabin. It was nicely decorated with a lot of homey touches. The kitchen was well stocked. It is galley style so if you have more than one person cooking it's a bit of a tight squeeze. Thankfully I'm the cook so we had little issue. The beds were amazingly comfortable. The hot tub never truly got warm, but it was so cold most of the time we had no reason to make the attempt to use it. We did however appreciate the convenience of the gas fireplace. We used that quite often.Overall we have only wonderful things to say and have raved about River Falls Hideaway to all our friends and family. The weather... warm then rain then cold so we had it all. Three adults and 2 pets and we had to make ourselves go to store for was great. My 11 yr old grandson loved playing in the river. This cabin is well stocked with almost everything you may need. The only thing we we're disappointed with was the hot tub, it did not work last year and we where hoping it would be fixed this year ,we were wrong. We were hoping for a nice soak after a 12 hr drive no luck, maybe next year. New owners have just bought this cabin so I'm sure some changes will take place in the next year. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2012 when we arrived the water was not drinkable or were we able to bathe with it due to a very high quality of sulfer which was fixed somewhat the next day after repairing a water purifier. still not drinkable and we purchased water. the grill ran out of gas 5min. after we started cooking and we hosed the back deck off and cleaned it ourselves. the upstairs deck/porch was not usable with spiders etc. we spent most of the 2nd day wanting on maintenance to correct the water smell.the inside was clean and the amenities were plentiful. First complaint is please clean the gas grill, it was unusable. Second, at least wipe down the very dirty deck furniture before guest arrival. The Positives more than outweigh the negatives. However, the cabin itself needs ALOT of work. My husband called it the leaning tower of pisa. You literally feel like the cabin in going to collapse into the river. I understand this is a historical cabin. However, it does not feel like it is structurally sound. There is NO lighting in the ceiling. Only lamps. The beds are very uncomfortable. The write up indicates that there is a filtration system in the cabin. However, we used the washer and dryer and the clothes STUNK terribly like sulfur. If you plan on just spending all your time outdoors and only need a place to sleep, this place would not be bad. First saw the wonderful location 12 years ago, with its cascading waterfalls. We rented it in regret of not buying it earlier. My wife is blind and just can't get over the sound of the falls.
