Stayed for 7 days in April, 2013 There was a problem with some cleaning issues, however, managment contacted me prior to me even being aware - they arranged for someone to come clean everything up; the cleaners called, came in and did there job. There were little things like either light bulbs out or fixtures not working; knobs off cabinets; but nothing big and I believe had I have called management they would have been right there. It even has plenty of beach things for the kids. The only thing we did not like was that you had to carry everything up a flight of stairs just to get in and then another flight of stairs to get to the bedrooms. Stayed for 7 days in October, 2012 This Island House Condo unit A211, on Butler Beach, Florida is need of cleaning and repairs. 1. There is dark grime on the doors (around the knobs).2 Grime on the walls (around the light switches).3. Dark carpet stains are upstairs, in the small bedroom.4. Downstairs, the carpet is frayed (around the entrance tile).5. Fixing the stairwell light would make the place safer. I didn't want an electrician intruding on my vacation, so the repairs still need to be made. 6. The toliet paper holder fell off the bathroom wall.Someone needs to get some cleaning solution and use some old fashioned elbow-grease to clean this unit.I mentioned some of the above items, upon arrival and I did not want to have the staff interrupt my vacation. It was bearable, but I won't stay at a condo managed by the VacationPros Group, the next time I travel to Florida. I called Vacatin Rentals and the people there couldn't be more helpful.They said no one from their office had been in there but would look into it and get back to me. The next day, I spoke to 2 men from Island House, one said he had been in to fix a sliding glass door. I would have appreciated a call saying someone was coming. Unit in need of a make over!!!!!! A guest from Mountain Home, Arkansas does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 We have been going to Island House for over 20 years now and this was by far the worst condo we stayed in. We found a bug in the master bed sheets, some of the plug ins didnt work, lights in the utility room and upstairs hallway didnt work, needs a major update job. Curtains in the living room and master bedroom were bad. The picture showed blinds and when we arrived we had hook curtains that fell off everytime you open the curtains, they didnt slide very easily. We were given 2 keys and only one worked. Waited 2 days before getting another key. We were at the pool and a man took down the umbrellas early and he was complaining about people leaving them up and the wind breaking the umbrellas and commenting on how expensive they were to replace. We were just very dissappointed in this unit. We love Island House condos and we will be back just not in this unit very disappointed! The only thing I will mention is that since it was a very windy weekend, the sliding doors (both levels) rattled and whistled continually. In fact, with the doors closed, the curtains blew as if they were open. The owner might want to do some weatherizing around those doors. The condo itself was decorated to the owners liking. Wall paper need attention,toilet seats in the second bedroom and guest-toilet need changing, the sofa and pillows were dirty. The kitchenware was poor and we missed a hairdryer in the bathroom. The master bedroom screen need a new screen. The screen door from the living room has to be repaired again. If the repairs were done and the condo well maintained I would recommend this location to everyone just for the view and the beach. Beautiful Beach Front Condo Vicki L L. from Lake City, Florida recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in September, 2011 My husband and I have stayed at Island House many times over the years. We even got married there atop the clubhouse 16 years ago. This condo was by far the most well appointed we've ever stayed in. We always stay oceanfront because it is so close to the water you can hear the surf. The decor was really beachy and bright and they had everything you could possibly need. We will definitely request this unit on our next visit. Stayed for 7 days in September, 2011 Our first overall impression when walking in was "You have got to be kidding" for a "5 star" location. You cannot say anything about the view except outstanding. The condo itself was decorated to the owners liking. Wall paper needs attention,toilet seats need changing, the sofa was dirty and the walls need a new paint job after cracks are taken care of. 2010 review complaints were not repaired. The master bedroom screen has apparently been in need of repair for over a year. If the repairs were done and the condo well maintained I would recommend this location to everyone just for the view and the convenience to St Augustine. Right now I would have to say if I had gone in high season and paid the higher rental price , I would have asked for another rental. The pool was not overcrowded although, it could use some updated tables and chairs, but otherwise very nice. The view was great from the balcony and we could hear the waves all night, very relaxing. I would have liked the walkway to the beach to be a little wider, but it was very pretty going over the dunes. The two balconies looking towards the ocean were wonderful. The location was also great. It is close to everything, but far enough south to miss the crowds. Great for kids. We had a small bug problem in the master bedroom the first night which probably came from being so close to the dunes. Bug spray was available in the room and after the first night they were gone. Fantastic location & view A guest from Mt Carmel, IL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2011 We had several bugs upstairs especially and left a few critters in a ziploc to view. The couch bed was terrible but we had plenty of bedspreads to try to pad the thing. Might need a foam piece for future guests? The pans in this condo were amazingly cheap. They burned enough that we used someone else's for the duration of the St. No problem for those who eat out always but we like to fix our own breakfast etc. The pool and beach and view were worth any inconvenience however. We would come again but would pack a few pans and bed foam next time. Thanks for a great stay. Hope I wasn't,t too negative but you asked and there was room to improve. She told me she would have the manager call. The next day still no call so I called again and got the same. All WEEK I WAITED ON THAT CALL! all week no internet in a dirty condo. was the worst vacation I ever had. Will never use vacation rental pros again! And let me mention the so called club house smelled so bad you could not even go in it. It was the most unsanitary place I have ever been in. The condo was nicely decoarated and clean. However, it does need some maintenace and general refurbishing. There are a lot of nicks and scrapes in the walls. The bathrooms are showing their age. The ceiling fan in the second bedroom was too noisy to use. The panles in the blinds fell off a few times. It is the first time we have ever rented a condo and it was an excellent first experience. The unit was clean and seemd well cared for. The view of the beach is beautiful. The only thing we noticed was that the light at the top of the landing, in front of the 2nd bedroom, flickered when used. We used the on in front of the master bedroom instead. I would highly recommend this unit and would definately stay again if we travel to St. Augustine again. I felt the condo was not clean when we arrived, the floor was dirty and all the dishes I pulled out (plates, pots, pans, etc) were dirty and I handwashed everything and cleaned all counter tops, etc. All floor mats in the bathrooms were dirty, but I just think they are old and need to be replaced. The blinds need to be replaced, they kept falling off or were already on the floor when we arrived. But overall it was the perfect location and stay for a sandy beach trip, right on the ocean and we would stay there again. Looking for a nice clean family condo???? This is not the place. Karen P. from Middlesboro, KY does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2010 My family just returned from our annual spring break vacation in St. Augustine. This is the first year we have used Vacation Rental Pro's however the entire rental process went great until our arrival to the condo. We were very dissatisfied with the exterior appearance of the unit upon arrival, and then once we went in my heart dropped...nothing as we had expected, the website definately played this unit up to be much more than it is. All the windows were dirty, entire complex old and nasty looking. Pool was closed 2 of the days we were there. When we opened the blinds on the sliding doors several fell off...upon turning the ceiling fans on dust flew everywhere...light bulbs blown in most of the closets. The shower heads were so outdated, looked like a garden hose. The advertisement stated the room had a comfy sofa bed...The sofa did not make a bed at all, falsely advertised. 3 toilets in the unit all with some problems with flushing. I was totally embarressed that i had booked this unit for our family..upon arrival and in tears, I immediately called to voice my concerns and to ask to be moved to any other unit in St. Augustine, regardless of price, I was willing to pay whatever it took to upscale and move...however i was told to "read your contract" and that they were completely booked up with no other options. My family loves St. Augustine and as previously stated visit each year, but never again will this happen to us. What has happened to true Customer Service and satisfaction? Nice Condo in St. Augustine Beach A guest from Port Perry, ON recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2010 We were two couples sharing this beachfront 2 bed, 2 1/2 bath condo in a quiet area of St. Augustine Beach, about 7-8 miles south of St. Augustine proper. The ocean views are spectacular. The condo is well equipped and clean, but could use a little TLC. The vertical blinds need a tune-up, many light bulbs are blown, the shower head in bathroom 2 fell apart, and the outside entry door to the laundry room is difficult to keep latched. The reservation and check in/out process was simple and easy via internet, though we had no other, personal, contact with anyone. Overall, we were quite satisfied and would consider this property again, though I'd like to see the minor maintainance issues addressed.
