The area feels quite remote, with plenty of space between the properties and your own walkway right down to the wide, warm sands. Yet a brand-new supermarket has just opened 2 blocks away, so our house is also convenient to everything you need. Whether you want to splash in the waves and forget about civilization or combine beach time with dining out and sightseeing, King of the Dune is a great place to stay!
The house begins on the second floor, with cathedral ceilings, enormous banks of windows, beautiful furnishings, and a sense of calm that makes King of the Dune feel like home within the first 5 minutes. Step into our living room and settle right in! The big flat-screen TV and ultra-plush sofa, loveseat and chair invite you to kick back and begin enjoying your free time, while the ornamental fireplace adds a homey note.
A sliding-glass door leads out to our huge open-air deck from the living room, while a higher row of windows lets you glimpse the brilliant blue Florida sky. Slip out onto the deck for sunbathing. The safety rail around our deck makes it perfect even for small children, without interfering with the breathtaking view of dunes, sand, sea, and sky. And there's enough room here for active toddlers and their toys, big group meals, and late-night stargazing. The deck is certain to become your favorite place at King of the Dune!
If you decide to dine in one evening, you won't be disappointed. Our dining room is spacious and pretty, with hardwood floors, a table for 6 (plus an adjacent breakfast bar for 4 more!), and great views of the ocean and beach. This area is ideal for playing board games or working on your computer too (you have free Wifi here!) -- the view is just too magnificent not to enjoy!
Right next to the dining area is our kitchen, newly renovated and simply a pleasure to use. Cool tiled flooring, a side-by-side fridge, brand-new stove and dishwasher, double sink, and custom cabinetry make cooking a breeze. We've stocked it with all the cookware, dishes, and utensils you need, too.
The second floor also boasts 2 bedrooms and a full bath with a shower and tub. Both bedrooms contain 2 twin beds; one also has lovely ocean views. There's plenty of room for everyone at King of the Dune!
On the third floor you'll find an office containing a queen sleeper sofa and a loveseat just in case you want an additional bedroom. This charming room is drenched with sunlight through big arched windows.
And the highlight of the top floor is the master suite! The king-sized bed is very comfortable, while a loveseat and chairs offer nice nooks for reading. The TV with VCR tempts you to watch the late-late show, while the beach views greet you each morning. There's even a rollaway bed here! The master bath delights with a walk-in shower and soaking tub, his-and-her vanities, and sparkling fittings. You'll find all the linens you need for all beds and baths waiting for you here, too.
This house is 3 stories high, with a first floor basement with washer and dryer. This level leads right out to our big grassy yard.

Dissappointed in Florida At King of the Dunes!!!! A guest from Pinckneyville, IL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 6 days in April, 2013 This property was not what we expected! First the hottub that was listed was not even ready to use a very big disaappointment! Then the listing also had 3 bathrooms listed and there was only 2! Next the bars on the banister were missing aand very unsafe! THe windows on ocean side all leaked bad! The french door blew open unless the deadbolt was locked! Last day there the airconditioner quit!!This property i not at all like it was shown on the sight!! I have rented many homes and will continue but will be more careful about the description of the property when booking!! I will definitely go thru someone else!!We were all very dissappointed in this home!! This home needs many major repairs done before someone else rents this especially for the money!!!! Great Location, Not So Great House Julianna T. from Blue Hill, ME does not recommend this property. Stayed for 28 days in March, 2013 I have to say, I had not read great reviews about Vacation Rental Pros. But during our stay at King of the Dune, they were great to deal with. What we were disappointed in was the house. The owner clearly has no pride in ownership. We have been renting houses for month long stays in Florida since 2005, this by far was the worst. The railing on the deck was about to fall off. There were many ballisters missing. If you have small children this is a definate safety issue. The front doors on the deck were rusted. I understand its on the beach, but it gives a bad first impression. The windows should have a warning on them "DO NOT OPEN" as they will fall on you, again safety issue. The exterior lights did not work at all. At least the street lights worked. The mattess in the master bedroom was like sleeping on a rock. There is a non functioning hot tub on the deck, but there is still some water in the bottom of it which was starting to smell by the time we left. The best part of the property was the fenced yard for our dogs. Wonderful location and views A guest from Roswell, GA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 King of the Dune has a wonderful position overlooking the ocean and the inlet between Vilano Beach and Saint Augustine. The views from the deck are beautiful and un-obstructed. However, we were surprised to see cars on the beach, right in front of our house! The beach is beautiful however, and we loved being able to walk out of the house and be on the beach.The location is very convenient with a Publix and several restaurants right down the street. The accommodations worked very well for us. Our kids had the 1st floor apartment, and the rest of us used the master and two guestrooms. The office area upstairs was a nice alternative to the main living room and had the best views from the large windows and from the tiny deck especially at sunrise, since the house faces East. Our two dogs enjoyed the fenced in yard and we loved the outdoor shower as well. The 2nd floor with the living/dining area and kitchen were spacious and bright. Great water views from every window, including the kitchen window! The kitchen was well equipped - we cooked most of our meals at home. Now for the few negatives.... The house itself is well loved but run down. The couches are very tired looking and dingy. The outside doors are corroded and rusty. The main deck was in poor shape as well, and even though we noticed four new plastic chairs, all the other deck furniture was old, broken and dirty. The biggest disappointment was the hot tub, which was not in working condition when we arrived on Saturday afternoon. We called the management company, and they finally sent the repair crew on Friday, the last day we were there. Unfortunately they were not able to fix it. Upon our return home, I did get a call from one of the managers at Vacation Pros who offered us a discount. But we would have rather known in advance that the hot tub was not working!All in all we loved our stay at King of the Dune and we would go back again! To have a very stressful vacation stay at KING OF THE DUNE! A guest from Export, PA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 I traveled from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania with my 2 children. From the photographs on-line the beach house was beautiful. We pulled up to a house that had siding coming off, no deck furniture, a deck that was falling apart, dirty livingroom furniture, dirty bathrooms, lights not working, doors not closing, shower heads falling off, TVs not working, roaches crawling around downstairs, garage door not opening (because it was off the track), my 6 year old crying asking why I would bring them to such a dirty house. The best part was the umbrella on the deck. It was held together with a toilet paper roll and a zip tie. Never again would I rent from Vacation Rental Pros. Our dream came true Heather P. from Jacksonville, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2012 I have always dreamed of staying in a beach house directly on the beach, and this vacation saw my dream fulfilled. I was not convinced until we arrived, but it truly was right on the beach. Vilano Beach is a delightful little beach resort, very quaint and "beachy". Especially appealing for us was the proximity of the local Publix, since we pretty much do all our own cooking. The house was very spacious, and especially notable was the master bedroom on the upper level, which was huge. Everywhere had a light and roomy feeling. We just thoroughly enjoyed our stay.There were some things that could have done with a little improvement, the main one being that the hot tub only heated the water but the jets did not work. Someone was called out to fix it, but told us that the owner was not willing to pay for a new pump. We still enjoyed using the tub, but you perhaps should not advertise this property as having a tub until you fix it properly. The reason we chose this property was solely because it said it had a hot tub, because my husband loves hot tubs. Also, on the deck, several of the railings were quite unsafe and could do with some repair work. In the basement, there was a noticeable musty smell which never went away, and the AC unit down there is difficult to understand, and we had to request an AC guy to come out, and he couldn't figure out how to use the remote to the AC unit either, so he just showed us, by removing the outer panel, how to press an on/off button, but that is not really a permanent solution because new incoming guests will most likely not understand it either. Perhaps some instructions should be left in a visible place so that that unit can be used correctly.Having listed the above issues, we still had a fantastic time and didn't want to leave. We shared the house with some family members visiting from England, and they just absolutely loved it. Thank you!
