Emerald Isle details
An area steeped in history, the land around Emerald Isle was first inhabited around 500 AD by Algonquin Indians. Around 1730 the area was settled by fisherman and whalers, and was also known for being ransacked by pirates on multiple occasions. Though the pirates are long gone, the maritime aspect of Emerald Isle lives on through its magnificent beaches and world class fishing opportunities. Additionally, some summers see the area play host to annual sand sculpting competitions, which are always worth checking out. The Bogue Banks Country Club, Rock Creek Golf Club, and Star Hill Golf Club provide a great way to spend an afternoon improving your golf game or just having some family fun. Museums, aquariums, marinas and great shopping round out the community, and ensure that you'll never be bored when visiting Emerald Isle on the Crystal Coast.
